Anchoring is a psychological trick to increase the perceived value of something.
It is often related to the psychological aspect of FOMO (fear of missing out) because you don’t want to miss out on the deal.
In our minds, a cognitive bias appears when the “anchor” is placed. We create arguments, often subconsciously, to convince ourselves of our (subconscious) decision.
With that said, anchoring does not mean that it is only meant to “trick” the consumer into buying something.
It can actually make a great deal look even better and create happier customers!
